COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Clara Edwards retired Dec. 31, 2025, from the City Bank branch in Monahans after a 77-year career in banking. She warmly greeted customers each day and helped introduce softball to young women in the community.  CBS7

CULTURE NEWS

  • Rodeo professionals Whitney and McCoy Profili carry on their family tradition at the Sandhills Stock Show and Rodeo at Ector County Coliseum until Saturday, Jan. 17 — their daughter Harper joins the ride as they compete in team and breakaway roping before heading to Fort Worth and additional Texas Swing events.  CBS7

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • City of Midland held four trash drop-off events in 2025, collecting over 21,000 tires, 200 batteries, 2,100 gallons of oil and nearly 10 tons of trash; officials said another event will be held this spring.  CBS7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Postal services at Stanton Post Office were suspended immediately because of an HVAC fire, and operations have been relocated to Tarzan Post Office at 2764 State Highway 176, where pickup is available Monday to Friday (8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) with limited retail hours.  CBS7
  • A report by Midland Animal Services on January 12 shows that in December, 95 animals were adopted, 57 were returned to their owners, and 57 were transferred, compared to 86 euthanasias, which brought the live release rate to 72%.  City of Midland

SPORTS NEWS

  • Midland College swept Odessa College Monday in a doubleheader as the Lady Chaps edged the Lady Wranglers 60–58 — their first win in the series since 2023 — while the Chaparrals secured a top-10 victory. Midland College will now face Frank Phillips College while Odessa College plays Western Texas College Jan. 15.  NewsWest9
