Good morning, Midland.

The Midland Rockhounds are playing their season opener today at Monument Bank Ballpark despite windy, cold, and rainy conditions — ground crews work early to safeguard the field — and first pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m.

The Midland Rockhounds have a new PA announcer as longtime voice Wes Coles retired after 16 years behind the microphone at Momentum Bank Ballpark—Chase Cochran, who started as a press box intern in 2016, fills the role.

He will bring his experience to the ballpark as the team gears up for the season.

The Midland Rockhounds have formed a new partnership with Fanatics this season to bring more merchandise to fans—such as hats, t-shirts, jerseys and pet bandanas.

They will also offer throwback items to honor the eighties legacy of Fernando Valenzuela—marking a 40th anniversary at the season kickoff.
