  • Police arrested 19-year-old Tyler Triplett on April 18 after he allegedly threatened two women with a handgun with a flashlight attachment at an apartment complex in Midland—police later recovered the unnumbered weapon from his room.  NewsWest9

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Earth Day on April 22 focused on raising awareness for protecting native plants and animals, and Sibley Nature Center has long worked to educate locals on preserving the Llano Estacado region’s natural balance—Education Director Misty Thomason noted the need to safeguard these spaces amid local growth. The center will host its free Sibley Spring Festival on Saturday, April 26 from 10 to 1 for garden tours, crafts, and guided nature hikes for families.  CBS7

  • Midland County is considering building a new animal holding facility near the county jail after nearly 80 animals were surrendered in a hoarding case.
