EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Midland voters will decide on May 3 whether to approve a $450M bond for Midland College, which will fund campus upgrades — safety improvements and workforce development programs. NewsWest9
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State lawmakers approved Senate Bill 767 to create a statewide firefighting equipment database for fire departments after last year’s Panhandle wildfires—Sen. Kevin Sparks from Midland said the database, managed and updated annually by Texas A&M Forest Service, will help departments share resources during emergencies. The bill now heads to Gov. Greg Abbott’s desk. KSAT
- ➤ Midland officials secured the Vaughn building—a twelve-story tower built in 1952—for a second time after a breach on the second floor revealed booby traps and evidence of a drug-related felony. The city posted a notice and billed the owner—Tuna Investment—and said further action will be taken if safety issues are not resolved. CBS7
