ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Midland recorded a 3.0% unemployment rate in March, the lowest among Texas cities, according to the Texas Workforce Commission. The figure was more than 1 point lower than both the state & national averages and slightly higher than the 2.9% recorded in March last year. City of Midland
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Following the board's unanimous approval, Midland ISD will reassign over 1,000 Travis Elementary students for the 2026-27 school year—277 from Travis will join Lone Star Trails or General Tommy Franks Elementary. - ➤ IDEA Henry Academy will expand to serve grades K-12 for the 2026-27 school year with a college-preparatory program (located near Bush Tennis Center). Applications are open and info nights are set for May 5, May 7 from 5–7 p.m. and May 9 from 9 a.m.–6 p.m. at IDEA Travis campus. CBS7
