ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A structure fire in west Midland on May 3 displaced 7 people in the 3500 block of West County Road 115 — first responders arrived at 8:40 p.m. with no injuries reported.  CBS7

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Three local small business owners were recognized during a luncheon hosted by University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) to celebrate National Small Business Week. The winners received awards in veteran, women, and rural categories from Odessa, Midland, and Andrews.  CBS7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Trinity School of Midland held a groundbreaking ceremony today to kick off its 45-million-dollar campus expansion, which will include a new lower school, library & redesigned entrance. Construction is set to last about 18 months, with lower school students shifting to temporary classrooms near the football field.  CBS7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Midland is deploying Dax robots along key sidewalk corridors to gather accessibility data starting today. The city, the Permian Basin Metropolitan Planning Organization, and Kimley-Horn will run the project for several weeks (with four to six robots active during daylight hours).  CBS7
  • U.S. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum (55th Secretary) toured a Diamondback Energy oil and gas site in Reagan County today to review Permian Basin operations and innovative practices. He said the administration will support expanded drilling, pipelines and infrastructure.  CBS7
