A police memorial service is held today at 10 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home (6801 East Business 20) to honor fallen officers across Texas, including local officers from Odessa, Midland and Lubbock.

The City of Midland saw sales tax collection reach $48.115 million over eight months, 31% higher than five years ago and 4.47% above last year's collection - a boost that helps keep property tax rates lower.

On Wednesday, three Midland Christian Mustangs signed with West Texas schools as football players Isaiah Mathews and Cadyn Bishop joined UTPB and Sul Ross State while golfer Mason Leary committed to Midland College; their celebration came just ahead of the State Championship meet at Squaw Valley Golf Course on May 11-12.
