- ➤ Residents in Iraan expressed alarm after a routine traffic stop turned violent Tuesday at Sixth and Farr Streets when a driver opened fire on a deputy who was later airlifted to Midland Memorial Hospital while deputies pursued and fatally shot the suspect on Highway 190—residents said such violence is unusual in their close-knit community.
