  • UTPB announced Dr. Ramona Ann Parker as the new dean of its College of Health Sciences, where she will begin her role June 1. She brings 18 years of experience and will expand programs including Impact Healthcare scholarships — local hospital partnerships to boost workforce development.  CBS7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Midland County is marking Texas Flood Awareness Week to teach residents about flood risks & safety precautions. County crews work on drainage channels and officials advise reporting concerns and avoiding flooded roads.  CBS7
  • TxDOT launched its 2026 Click It or Ticket campaign Tuesday, May 19 to remind drivers to buckle up. Local patrols will fine unbuckled motorists up to $250 — the campaign stresses that seatbelt use saves lives.  CBS7

SPORTS NEWS

  • Ten Permian Basin schools concluded state track & field Saturday at the Mike A. Myers Track & Soccer Stadium in Austin, with 10 athletes securing medals in shot put, pole vault and relay races.
