  • Midland animal shelters are nearing full capacity with many pets at risk of euthanasia, so Fix West Texas and Midland Animal Shelter will host a foster and adoption event tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1200 N. Fairgrounds (fosterers receive food, a leash, a collar and a crate to help save lives).  CBS7
  • Midland was named No. 29 on Livability’s 2026 Top 100 Best Places to Live list based on factors such as affordability, education, safety — and quality of life, marking its best ranking among West Texas cities since last year's No. 33 spot.  CBS7

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Midland’s latest census report shows an estimated population of 147,615, with growth of 2.7% since 2024 and 11% since 2020—marking it as the fastest-growing large city in West Texas.  City of Midland

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Local leaders discussed major projects at the MOTRAN Luncheon, where they planned work on interstates 14 & 27, airport expansions, pipeline upgrades and community programs.
