  • The West Texas Food Bank launched its summer food service program this week to give free meals and snacks to kids in the Permian Basin — including children in Midland.   • On May 28, Midland police arrested Jerome White, 40, for allegedly robbing a Super 8 hotel room at gunpoint—he is now held on a $250,000 bond.  NewsWest9
  • Midland police are seeking two suspects accused of using a stolen credit card on May 13 when they shopped at multiple Walgreens locations + the suspects were seen driving a black Jeep Cherokee.  CBS7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Representative Tom Craddick secured $615,708 for the petroleum museum during yesterday’s legislative session—this funding will support education, archives and exhibits in a partnership with Midland Community College while boosting STEAM programs scheduled for the summer.  CBS7
  • The City of Coahoma (covering Sand Springs) lifted its boil water notice on June 4 after lab tests (that showed safe chlorine levels) confirmed the water is safe and residents can now use tap water without boiling.  CBS7
  • The United States Mint will stop making pennies in early 2026 following a presidential order because it costs more to produce a penny than its value—coin collectors and local businesses expect some prices to be rounded to the nearest nickel. Only coins already in circulation will remain in use once the final order is fulfilled.  CBS7
