Good morning, Midland.

Midland residents can look forward to Fourth of July celebrations as Centennial Park hosts the Star Spangled Salute with a children's parade at 10 a.m. and the park closing from noon to 5 p.m. to set up a beer garden & fireworks evening event that brings the community together.

The Midland Fire Department reported a 1.05% increase in calls through May, with fire calls rising from 293 to 317 and EMS calls making up over three-quarters of 9,755 total calls — calls for other emergencies dropped 14% compared to last year.

Odessa Regional Medical Center honored volunteer Sharon Lipham after nearly 28 years serving in leadership roles and clocking 5,000 volunteer hours helping patients.

The hospital now invites community members to apply for volunteer positions (applications are open all year with flexible hours).
