- ➤ The Salvation Army is working in Kerrville to clean up debris, search for lost items, and provide meals and supply kits after the floods. The group has served nearly 5,000 meals since July fourth and now deploys mobile feeding units—accepting only financial donations as its warehouse remains full. CBS7
- ➤ Javier Zapata (owner of Spray Em Up mobile wash) washed Officer Bailey Martin’s police vehicle for display ahead of his funeral procession in Odessa. Officer Martin died during the July 4th Hill Country floods and Zapata provided his service free of charge (a small act of kindness in a time of loss). CBS7
- ➤ Odessans traded donations for smash burgers in a Burger Relief fundraiser that raised money for Texas flood victims, with nearly 400 burgers sold in hours. The fundraiser will continue today in Midland. NewsWest9
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Cesar Ricardo Rodriguez-Villarreal, wanted in Mexico on homicide and kidnapping charges, was arrested in Odessa for impaired driving — ICE officials said he will be returned to Mexico to face the charges. NewsWest9
- ➤ At approximately 2:13 p.m. on July 11, Midland police responded to a disturbance at the 500 block of East Nobles Avenue where an officer-involved shooting occurred, the suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment, and the Texas Rangers have taken over the investigation. CBS7
