Good morning, Midland.

After decades of service to Midland, firefighter Martin Nunez is retiring today as the Midland Fire Department honors his career and lasting impact (the department shared its thanks on Facebook).

Midland County Fire Marshal Justin Bunch was deployed to South Texas on Sunday, July 19, to assess flood damage in Batesville from severe storms — his report will help state officials decide if additional state or federal aid is needed.

Midland Fire Department, Midland ISD and the County Sheriff’s Office will conduct active shooter training this week at Greenwood Intermediate School.

Residents may notice an increased presence — including emergency vehicles and first responders — during the exercise.

Parents are reminded to ensure children meet immunization requirements before school by visiting the Ector County Health Department's back-to-school clinics.

The clinics are scheduled for July 22, 28 and 30 (432-498-4141) to assist families with uninsured or Medicaid-enrolled children.
