Good morning, Midland.

Customers rounded up their purchases at local Kent Kwik stores from March 23 to May 30, raising $116,630 for the Permian Basin Re-Ability Center to help local families.

The donation supported services for children and adults in West Texas (part of a long-standing partnership with The Kent Companies).

AT&T and the Boys and Girls Club of the Permian Basin will distribute 100 laptops to local students ahead of the new school year to help bridge the digital divide in Midland — ensuring that children have the tools needed for homework and classwork.

The Meet the Teacher event at Sam Houston Elementary was postponed due to construction issues and a malfunctioning air conditioning system.

Officials (including district trustee Matt Friez) said a new date will be set once repairs are complete.

The Highway Emergency Response Operator program enters its second year in the Permian Basin after a successful first year serving motorists along Interstate 20 and State Highway 191.

Local and state partners will evaluate the program for future expansion.
