- ➤ Shandi Williams filed to run for the District 3 seat on Midland City Council according to local officials—joining incumbent Jack Ladd and candidate Cheston Blank; voters will choose their preferred candidate on Nov. 4 in one of three local contests. CBS7
- ➤ Judd Campbell filed to run for mayor as the third candidate in Midland's race for the Nov. 4 election—he joined Mayor Lori Blong and Terry Garrett after filing closed at 5:00 p.m. on August 18. CBS7
- ➤ Chevron donated a two-acre parcel and $300,000 on Monday at a ceremony near the Chevron pipe yard to support construction of a second fire station for the Northeast Volunteer Fire Department in northwestern Midland County. The new station will break ground in 2026 to reduce emergency response times on the county's west side—improving water access in emergencies. NewsWest9
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Texas Department of State Health Services declared the measles outbreak over after West Texas counties went six weeks with no new cases—the outbreak had begun in January and resulted in 762 cases, many in children, including two fatalities.
