- ➤ CASA of the Permian Basin Area launched the Coaches for CASA Campaign using UTPS head football coach Kris McCullough and head swimming and diving coach Brain Schroeder to recruit new CASA volunteers — the campaign will engage community members at tailgating events during UTPB home football games this season to add 20 volunteers needed in Ector County. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police arrested Samuel Nixon Monday at Dunagan Park after he allegedly stabbed his former partner with an ice pick—her injuries included a cut on her leg and wounds to her hand and knuckles. CBS7
- ➤ On Aug. 19, Midland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary at a contractor’s trailer near West I-20 where $8,500 in tools were stolen—surveillance later showed a white man in a tie-dye shirt and blue baseball cap selling some of the items at a pawn shop, and deputies are asking for public help in tracking the suspect.
