  • Smalls Sliders signed an agreement to expand in West Texas by opening two new locations in Midland and Odessa led by veteran operators Rehman, Talha and Tanweer Ahmed with partner William Bolling. The Midland outlet at 2301 W. Wall St. will have its Can Drop later this month while plans for Odessa will be announced soon.  CBS7

CRIME NEWS

  • Brayan Castillo-Lopez, 31, was arrested in Midland County during a traffic stop on Thursday when deputies found five kilograms of cocaine in his vehicle — he now faces charges of possession with intent to distribute.  NewsWest9

  • In July, employment in the Midland MSA increased by 2.8% compared with last year — the highest growth in West Texas, showing strong job gains for local residents.  City of Midland
