Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 1st of October.
Good morning, Midland.
The City of Midland is holding its first city-wide canned food drive as council members compete to collect donations for the Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry until Friday, October 3.
Donations may be dropped off at the soup kitchen between 9:30 and 2 or placed in a bin after hours—each council member collects a specific food type to help feed local families during Hunger Action Month.
The City of Midland partnered with Midland Soup Kitchen to launch a canned food drive competition called Yes, Midland Can—residents are invited to donate nonperishable food items to support those in need.
Residents in Midland can now submit applications for MDC board positions as the City seeks to fill an unexpired term—two upcoming appointments—on the board.
The City will review all candidates and share next steps soon.
