  • The Special Olympics Texas Fall Classic returns today in Midland-Odessa—an event that brings hundreds of athletes from across Texas to compete in various sports while building confidence and joy.  NewsWest9

  • The Bush Family Home State Historic Site in Midland is celebrating Halloween for the first time by decorating with vintage décor and authentic costumes from the 1940s and 1950s throughout October—staff confirmed that a local donation helped secure many of the items, and a Pumpkin Walk will be held on October 29 from 5 to 7:30 p.m.  CBS7
  • Basin Theatre Works is hosting its first-ever Boo Ball: Wicked—Be Wicked for Good, a fundraiser scheduled for October 18 at Casa de Windswept in Gardendale. The event will raise money for arts programs so that Permian Basin students will have more chances to explore and create.  CBS7

  • Anthony Robles, NCAA wrestling champion, spoke last night at UTPB’s Shepperd Leadership Institute Distinguished Lecture series at Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center about his wrestling career and how his new movie Unstoppable impacted his life—he explained the role his sport played in shaping his journey. The free event drew local athletes and community members.  CBS7
  • The Children’s Museum of the Southwest in Midland is hosting the Fall Into STEM: Constellation Creators event today at 4:00 p.m.—kids will learn about star patterns and build a handheld star projector. Additional sessions will take place on October 10 at 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., offering more chances for learning.  CBS7
  • Bethany Hamilton visited Trinity School on Tuesday morning for its 13th Annual Speaker Series. The surfer—author and shark attack survivor—spoke to students about her experiences.  NewsWest9
  • Midland ISD is partnering with Texas Tech University to launch the Our Principal Resident program—where teachers earn a Master's in Educational Leadership while working alongside a campus principal.   • The Midland Development Corporation board approved over $3.7 million for new infrastructure projects in northeast and west Midland—one project will upgrade water systems on Todd Drive and Loop 250 to meet growth needs before traffic becomes an issue, officials said.  NewsWest9
