- ➤ Local nonprofits say the need for help is rising as more families and individuals seek support before the holidays. Buckner Family Services and Mission Center Adult Daycare are asking for financial gifts and volunteer time — which will help keep counseling, housing, and daily programs available. NewsWest9
- ➤ The University of Texas Permian Basin is hosting homecoming weekend events with a parade starting today at 7:00 p.m. at Founders Road and UTPB Main Road that will end at Kirk Edwards Human Performance Center—later, live music, food trucks, a bonfire, and fireworks will follow. The Falcons will play West Texas A&M on Saturday at Astound Stadium with free admission and tailgating beginning at 3:00 p.m., while parking is available in the Mesa and gym lots with campus access limited after 6:50 p.m. CBS7
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Midland Christian School’s Mighty Mustang Band won first place at the TAPPS State Marching Band Contest on Oct. 20 at the Waco ISD Sports Complex, earning its third state championship since 2019 with strong musical precision+visual performance. The band will prepare for the TAPPS State Instrumental Music Championship in March, supported by its administrators+parents. CBS7

- ➤ Odessa College will host its 2025 Energy Day Forum today from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. in the Wood Health Science building—where educators, researchers, students and energy professionals will learn about new energy developments, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
