Good morning, Midland.

The City of Midland is constructing West Collection Center — the first of two centers for recycling and large items — and it will open mid-January.

The City of Midland named Alexsey Dobberstine as the new manager of Midland Animal Services in August; she brings six years of animal shelter experience from Houston and Dallas and has already added programs to boost rescue dog adoptions.

She plans to expand community events with food trucks and trail walks — steps that aim to further involve local residents.
